         Anthers and Stigmas and Styles, Oh My!        Fertilization occurs in our plants and other types of Brassica Oleracea through the plants different parts. For instance, first, pollen grains are formed by meiosis and the anthers, producing haploid spores that go through mitosis. After that, meiosis in the ovule produces haploid spores as well, and after the spores going through mitosis, they become an egg. Then, pollen grains land on the stigma, which grow tubes to the ovule, with a sperm fertilizing the egg. This forms a zygote, and in each ovule, a seed is developed and during the development, the ovary wall starts to thicken and form the fruit around the seeds and eventually, the plant starts to grow. Over many months of observing and monitoring the growth of our Brassica oleracea plant, there are many things that have become known. However, Brassica oleracea has not stayed the same for all of its existence on earth. It has changed, adapted, and gone through a process called natural selection in order to form new variations of the same species. The part of the plant that I decided to observe were the leaves of the plant. I noticed that the leaves in the various plants had a range in width from 1.5 cm to 16 cm. I also noticed that the leaves in the plants had a range in length from 6 cm to 24 cm. These two facts prove that compared to other parts of the plant, the leaves have the greatest variation and depend mostly on what type of Brassica oleracea plant it is. Abiotic factors that our plants depend on is sunlight, precipitation, temperature, soil, and space. These factors are main parts of the development of our plants because the sunlight and soil play a part in photosynthesis with our plant. Also, the precipitation and space are major parts of the growth for our plant because our plant needs space for its roots to expand along with the plant and for the plant to actually grow, water is required so irrigation, or precipitation is needed. Biotic factors that our plants depend on are parasites, other organisms, and their role with these organisms whatever they may be. This is because without some sort of competition or another organism having to do with our plant, the plant will be on its own, not receiving or losing anything from other plants, making it difficult for our plant to thrive.
